Women's Empowerment

“Attending the 24th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues was a profound moment for the Wiyi Yani U Thangani Institute, one that reminded us why this work matters and how far our voices can reach. We returned home with strengthened alliances across the
Pacific, North America and South America, new pathways for joint advocacy, and a deeper commitment to building the foundations of a human rights program that will open these spaces to more First Nations women in the future. This experience affirmed that our place is not just at the
table, it is in shaping what the table looks like.”

The First Peoples of Australia have long been left out of conversations that dramatically impact their lives. This donation contributes to Oxfam's work, including programs that can help connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, like Banok and Terri, with women from Indigenous
communities all over the world and share their message on the global stage.
