Inequality and discrimination are widespread in Sri Lanka, and low-income levels mean many people are struggling with high food prices. But gifts like this mean farmers like Seetha are given the opportunity to improve their crops and businesses through training, coaching and exposure visits to other farms as part of Oxfam’s Resilient and Gender Inclusive Enterprise Systems (RIES) project.
“I am very happy to say that RIES project changed my life,” said Seetha, a farmer from Sri Lanka who was given the opportunity to improve her cinnamon business through training, coaching and exposure visits to other farms. “Thanks to the technical know-how and … business development skills received from Oxfam, I will go beyond my farming role soon.”
Oxfam acknowledges the support of the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
