When a woman is supported to launch her own business and become financially independent, it can have a dramatic roll-on effect for her family, her community and the world. This donation contributes to Oxfam’s
work around the world, including programs that enable women to access training, resources and opportunities that were previously denied to them.

When Afsana decided to turn her handicrafts into a business, Oxfam’s partner, CODEC, played an important role in her training, through the Blue Economy and Inclusive Development for Climate Justice project. Today she employs 10 women on a casual basis.

“I've talked to my husband. He supported me to do it. He inspired me, my children inspired me too,” said Afsana.
